Brad Calder

Brad Calder is Director/Architect of Windows Azure Storage, which provides essential scalable, available and durable storage for Microsoft’s cloud platform. Before Microsoft he was a tenured Professor at University of California, San Diego in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering where he graduated 14 PhD students, published 100+ papers in the areas of systems, architecture and compilers, and was a recipient of an NSF CAREER award. He is co-founder of three startup companies: Entropia Inc. (distributed computing), TracePoint Inc. (program analysis tools for x86), and Bit-Raker Inc (program analysis tools for ARM), and has worked as a Principal Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation's Western Research Lab. He received his undergraduate degrees from University of Washington and his graduate degree from University of Boulder, Colorado.
